Hamburger SV is reportedly in advanced talks to sign former Leicester City striker Patson Daka on a free transfer, according to multiple sources. The 27-year-old Zambian international is currently a free agent after his contract with Leicester City expired at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Daka joined Leicester from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021 for a reported fee of around £23 million. During his time at the King Power Stadium, he scored 15 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions, including a memorable hat-trick against Spartak Moscow in the Europa League.
After Leicester's relegation from the Premier League in 2023, Daka spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, scoring 6 goals in 20 league appearances. He returned to Leicester for the 2024-25 season but struggled for regular playing time as the Foxes failed to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Hamburg, who finished 4th in the 2. Bundesliga last season, are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. The club's sporting director has confirmed interest in Daka, though no official contract has been signed as of July 20, 2026.
