Moroccan security forces seized approximately 1.9 tons of cannabis resin in two separate operations targeting drug trafficking, according to official sources. The seizures were carried out by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the Royal Gendarmerie.
The first operation, conducted in the region of Oulad Teima, led to the confiscation of 1.2 tons of cannabis resin. The second operation, in the area of Tiznit, resulted in the seizure of 700 kilograms of the same substance. No arrests have been reported in connection with these seizures.
Morocco remains one of the world's largest producers of cannabis resin, despite ongoing efforts by authorities to combat illicit trafficking. The country has recently legalized the cultivation of cannabis for medical and industrial purposes, but illegal trade continues to be a challenge.
