Rabat, June 30, 2026 – The High Commission for Planning (HCP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized a workshop to present the Moroccan Food Composition Table (TMCA), a new reference database for nutritional values of local foods.

The TMCA provides detailed information on the nutritional content of over 1,000 Moroccan food items, including traditional dishes, fruits, vegetables, and cereals. It aims to support policymakers, researchers, and health professionals in designing evidence-based nutrition programs and food security strategies.

According to the HCP, the table was developed using standardized analytical methods and data from national surveys. The FAO provided technical assistance and validated the methodology to ensure international comparability.

The initiative aligns with Morocco's national nutrition strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) and Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being). The TMCA is expected to be updated regularly and made accessible online.
