The World Bank's Board of Directors approved a $250 million loan on June 12, 2026, for Morocco's Digital Acceleration Program. The program aligns with the national 'Maroc Digital 2030' strategy, aiming to boost the country's competitiveness in offshoring and digital services.
The loan will support investments in digital infrastructure, e-government services, and skills development. Key components include expanding broadband access, digitizing public administration, and fostering innovation in the tech sector.
Morocco has positioned itself as a regional hub for offshoring, particularly in French-speaking markets. The program targets creating 240,000 digital jobs by 2030 and increasing the digital sector's contribution to GDP from 3% to 10%.
The project also includes measures to improve cybersecurity and data protection, as well as support for startups and small businesses. The World Bank noted that the program is expected to benefit women and youth, who are currently underrepresented in the digital economy.
