Independent Manitoba MLA Mark Wasyliw, representing the Winnipeg riding of Fort Garry, reported a break-in at his Crescentwood home early Saturday morning, July 25, 2026. Wasyliw told Global News he was asleep when he heard a loud bang and glass shattering.
Upon investigating, he found a man inside his living room. The suspect fled but was later arrested by Winnipeg police. A 39-year-old man faces charges of break and enter.
Wasyliw, a former NDP member who now sits as an independent, said he was shaken but unharmed. Police confirmed the arrest and said the investigation is ongoing.
