The United Kingdom and Morocco have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and expanding their strategic partnership. This follows a meeting between UK Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and the United Nations, Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, and Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, in Rabat on March 24, 2026.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed the progress of the enhanced strategic partnership signed in June 2025. They discussed deepening cooperation across several key areas, including security, trade, investment, and green energy initiatives. The partnership aims to foster greater economic ties and address shared regional challenges.

Lord Ahmad highlighted the UK's support for Morocco's autonomy plan for the Western Sahara region, describing it as "serious, credible, and realistic." This diplomatic stance aligns with the UK's ongoing engagement on the issue. The officials also discussed collaboration on education and cultural exchanges to strengthen people-to-people links between the two nations.
