Yusuf Gagdi, the lawmaker representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in Nigeria's House of Representatives, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election to secure the party's ticket for a third term. The primary, held on May 17, 2026, resulted in John Tongsh winning the ticket.
Gagdi, a member of the APC, had sought re-election but was defeated in the party's internal contest. The outcome was confirmed by the APC electoral committee overseeing the primaries in Plateau State.
This development marks a significant shift in the political landscape of the constituency, as Gagdi has served two terms since 2019. Tongsh will now represent the APC in the upcoming general elections.
