Max Verstappen has committed to Red Bull Racing until the end of the 2030 Formula 1 season, the team announced on Thursday. The four-time world champion's new deal ends months of speculation about his future, with Verstappen admitting he had considered leaving the sport altogether.
Speaking at the Dutch Grand Prix circuit in Zandvoort, Verstappen said: "I have thought about my future and what I want to do. In the end, I feel this is the right place to be." The 28-year-old's previous contract ran until 2028, but the new extension adds two more years.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner expressed delight at the news, calling Verstappen "the best driver of his generation." The announcement comes ahead of this weekend's race at Zandvoort, where Verstappen has won for the past three years.
Verstappen's decision is seen as a major boost for Red Bull, which has faced challenges this season with performance fluctuations and internal team changes. The Dutch driver leads the championship standings as of the latest race.
