The Mohammed VI Football Academy, located in Salé near Rabat, was inaugurated in 2019 by King Mohammed VI. It was built with an investment of around 140 million euros and is considered one of the most modern football training centers in Africa and the world.
The academy focuses on holistic development, combining football training with education and character building. It has state-of-the-art facilities, including multiple pitches, a medical center, classrooms, and a mosque. The academy selects young talents from across Morocco through rigorous trials.
Several academy graduates have achieved international recognition, including players like Youssef En-Nesyri, who plays for Sevilla FC, and Nayef Aguerd, who moved to West Ham United. The academy has become a model for other countries, with visits from football federations and clubs seeking to replicate its success.
According to reports, the academy has contributed to the rise of Moroccan football, with the national team's performance in the 2022 World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals, partly attributed to the development of young players from such institutions.
