Ukraine struck two Russian oil refineries hundreds of kilometres from the border in an overnight attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday, as Russia hit a train station and commercial ship in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian attacks targeted refineries in the Russian regions of Saratov and Ryazan, according to reports. The strikes are part of Ukraine's ongoing campaign to disrupt Russian fuel supplies and logistics.
In response, Russian forces struck a train station and a commercial ship in Ukraine, causing damage and casualties. The Ukrainian authorities reported that the ship was hit in the port of Odesa, and the train station was in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Both sides have intensified attacks in recent weeks, with Ukraine using long-range drones to hit targets deep inside Russia, while Russia continues to bombard Ukrainian infrastructure and civilian areas.
