As of August 6, 2026, Morocco's annual Marhaba operation has facilitated the return of 2,741,570 Moroccans residing abroad (MREs), according to the Ministry of Interior. This figure represents a 0.45% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
The operation, which began in early June, aims to ensure smooth and safe travel for the Moroccan diaspora during the summer months. It involves coordinated efforts between Moroccan authorities, including border control, customs, and maritime and air transport companies.
The ministry reported that the influx has been managed without major incidents, with additional staff and resources deployed at ports, airports, and land borders to handle the high volume of travelers. The increase in numbers reflects the continued strong ties between Morocco and its diaspora.
Marhaba, which means 'welcome' in Arabic, is an annual initiative that underscores the kingdom's commitment to serving its citizens abroad. The operation is expected to continue until mid-September, with authorities anticipating further arrivals in the coming weeks.
