Uganda Airlines has placed an order for 10 Boeing aircraft, comprising four 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF) and six 787-9 Dreamliners, according to a statement from the airline on June 11, 2026. The deal, valued at approximately $2.5 billion at list prices, was announced during the Uganda-UK Investment Summit in London.
The order includes firm commitments for the freighters, which will support Uganda's growing export sector, particularly for perishable goods like flowers and fish. The 787-9 Dreamliners are intended for long-haul routes to destinations such as London, Dubai, and Guangzhou, pending regulatory approvals.
Uganda Airlines CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki stated that the new aircraft will enable the carrier to increase cargo capacity by 40% and launch direct flights to Europe and Asia by early 2027. The airline currently operates a fleet of four Bombardier CRJ900s and two Airbus A330-800s.
The order is part of Uganda's broader strategy to boost trade and tourism, with the government aiming to double export revenues by 2030. Boeing has committed to providing training and maintenance support for the new fleet.
