Shashi Kumar, founder of Akshayakalpa Organic, has built the company into a Rs 700 crore enterprise with a network of 2,800 farmers. The company, based in Karnataka, India, produces organic milk and dairy products without the use of synthetic hormones or antibiotics.
Kumar, a former IT professional, started Akshayakalpa in 2010 with a vision to transform dairy farming. The company now processes over 60,000 liters of milk daily, sourced from farmers who follow strict organic practices. Farmers receive training and support to transition from conventional to organic farming.
Akshayakalpa's model emphasizes animal welfare and soil health. Cows are raised in stress-free environments, and the company uses a direct-to-consumer model to ensure freshness. The enterprise has grown significantly, with a reported revenue of Rs 700 crore as of 2025.
The company's success has been featured in various business publications, highlighting its impact on rural livelihoods and sustainable agriculture. Akshayakalpa plans to expand its farmer network and product range in the coming years.
