Senegal has formally lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, challenging the decision to award the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title to Morocco. The appeal follows a controversial ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip Senegal of the championship.

The dispute stems from the final match of the 2025 tournament, where Senegal initially defeated Morocco. CAF's subsequent investigation concluded that Senegal had fielded an ineligible player, leading to the disqualification and the title being handed to runner-up Morocco. The Senegalese Football Federation has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

A CAS spokesperson confirmed receipt of the appeal but did not provide a timeline for the proceedings. The court's decision will be final and binding for all parties involved, including CAF.

The 2025 AFCON, hosted by Morocco, was notable for its competitive matches. This appeal introduces significant uncertainty over the official champion of the tournament, with a final resolution potentially taking several months.
