Actress Sally Bretton has confirmed her departure from the BBC drama Beyond Paradise. Bretton, who played Martha Lloyd, the fiancΓ©e and later wife of DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), stated her exit was a creative decision made with the show's producers.
The news follows the earlier departure of lead actor Kris Marshall, whose character left the series at the end of the most recent season. The show, a Death in Paradise spin-off, follows the couple as they move to Devon.
In a statement, Bretton expressed gratitude for her time on the series but indicated it was the right time for her character's story to conclude. The BBC has confirmed that Beyond Paradise has been renewed for a fourth series and two Christmas specials, which will continue without Bretton's character.
