Lindsey Fiddes joined the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in January 2026 as an assistant professor in the teaching stream. She brings more than a decade of expertise in microfabrication, microfluidics, microscopy and training of highly qualified personnel.
Fiddes' research focuses on developing microfluidic devices for biomedical applications, including organ-on-a-chip systems and point-of-care diagnostics. She has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and holds two patents related to microfluidic technologies.
In her new role, Fiddes will teach courses in biomedical engineering design and microfabrication techniques. She also plans to establish a teaching laboratory for hands-on training in microfluidics and microscopy.
βI am excited to join the BME community, which is an exciting, inspirational and team-focused community,β Fiddes said. βI look forward to contributing to the education of the next generation of biomedical engineers.β
