Postbank has announced a series of changes to its account services and fee structure, set to take effect on July 1, 2026. The changes include the introduction of monthly account maintenance fees for previously free accounts, as well as a reduction in over-the-counter services at physical branches.
According to the bank's official statement, customers with standard current accounts will now be charged €3.90 per month, while premium accounts will see fees rise to €9.90. The bank cited rising operational costs and the shift toward digital banking as reasons for the adjustments.
In addition, Postbank will limit free cash withdrawals at its branches to four per month. Customers who exceed this limit will be charged €1.50 per additional withdrawal. The bank also plans to close 50 branches nationwide by the end of 2026, with affected customers being directed to nearby post office locations for basic services.
Postbank has assured customers that online banking and mobile app services will remain free of charge. The bank is also offering a six-month transition period during which customers can switch to alternative accounts or providers without penalty.
