On April 28, 2026, a strategic meeting was held in Madrid between Spanish and Moroccan government officials and industry leaders to discuss boosting cooperation in the automotive sector. The event, organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE), focused on strengthening supply chains and promoting investment.
According to a press release from the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, the meeting highlighted the growing importance of Morocco as a key partner for Spain in the automotive industry. Morocco has become a major automotive hub in Africa, with exports reaching €14 billion in 2025, according to data from the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Spanish companies, including major automotive parts manufacturers, have invested over €2 billion in Morocco in recent years, creating thousands of jobs. The meeting aimed to further integrate the two countries' automotive ecosystems, particularly in electric vehicle production and battery manufacturing.
Both sides agreed to establish a joint working group to identify new opportunities for collaboration, including in research and development, training, and logistics. The next meeting is scheduled for October 2026 in Casablanca.
