Morocco's unemployment rate stood at 10.8% in the first quarter of 2026, according to data released by the High Commission for Planning (HCP). This figure represents a slight increase compared to the same period in 2025, when the rate was 10.5%.
The HCP report indicates that the number of unemployed individuals reached approximately 1.6 million, with urban areas experiencing a higher rate of 14.2% compared to rural areas at 5.8%. Youth unemployment remains a significant concern, with the rate among those aged 15-24 at 30.5%.
The data also shows that the labor force participation rate declined slightly to 43.2%, reflecting ongoing challenges in the job market. The HCP noted that the services sector absorbed the most new jobs, while agriculture and industry saw mixed results.
