Moroccan authorities have signed a convention to operationalize the "Igoudar Numérique" digital hub in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region. The agreement was signed by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, the Wilaya of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, the Regional Council, and the Mohammed VI Investment Fund.
The convention aims to establish a major data center and digital infrastructure project in Dakhla, supporting the region's economic and technological development. The project is part of Morocco's national strategy to boost its digital economy and extend high-capacity digital infrastructure across the kingdom.
"Igoudar Numérique" is designed to position Dakhla as a strategic digital hub for Africa, leveraging the region's geographical location and renewable energy potential. The initiative is expected to attract investment and create skilled jobs in the technology sector.
The signing ceremony took place in Dakhla, with officials stating the project aligns with royal directives to accelerate the development of the southern provinces. The next steps involve detailed technical studies and mobilizing the necessary public and private investments to launch construction.
