The World Bank has approved a $250 million financing package for Morocco to accelerate its digital transformation, according to an official statement released on June 16, 2026. The project, called the Digital Morocco 2030 Support Program, aims to enhance digital public services and strengthen the country's digital economy.
The funding will support the modernization of government administration, improve digital infrastructure, and promote digital inclusion, particularly in rural areas. The program is aligned with Morocco's national digital strategy, which seeks to increase the contribution of the digital sector to GDP and create jobs.
Key components include the development of a secure digital identity system, the digitization of public services, and support for startups and small businesses in the tech sector. The World Bank noted that the project is expected to benefit over 10 million citizens by 2030.
