The first edition of the Rallye IA Future Lab kicked off in Merzouga, Morocco, on June 15, 2026, transforming the desert town into an open-air laboratory for artificial intelligence. Organized by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, the five-day event aims to highlight the role of regions in building the digital economy.
According to official statements, the event brings together experts, startups, and policymakers to discuss AI applications in sectors like agriculture, tourism, and renewable energy. Workshops and hackathons are planned to foster innovation and collaboration.
Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Ghita Mezzour, emphasized that regions are central to Morocco's digital strategy. She stated that local initiatives can drive inclusive growth and bridge the digital divide.
The Rallye IA Future Lab is part of Morocco's broader efforts to position itself as a regional tech hub. The event is expected to attract over 500 participants from across Africa and Europe.
