Morocco's Department of Maritime Fisheries is modernizing fish marketing circuits under its 2025-2027 roadmap. As of June 2026, a network of 76 markets has been established, with investments exceeding 1.7 billion dirhams, according to official statements.
The initiative aims to improve hygiene, traceability, and efficiency in the seafood supply chain. The markets are equipped with cold storage and digital monitoring systems to reduce post-catch losses.
This modernization is part of a broader strategy to boost the fisheries sector, which contributes significantly to Morocco's economy and food security.
