The High Commission for Planning (HCP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) presented the Moroccan Food Composition Table (TMCA) on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in Rabat. This new national reference tool aims to provide accurate data on the nutritional content of foods consumed in Morocco.
The TMCA includes detailed information on macronutrients, micronutrients, and energy values for a wide range of local and imported foods. It is designed to support public health policies, nutrition education, and food industry standards.
According to the HCP, the table was developed using standardized analytical methods and data from Moroccan laboratories. The FAO provided technical assistance to ensure alignment with international food composition databases.
The launch event highlighted the importance of reliable food composition data for combating malnutrition, obesity, and diet-related diseases. The TMCA is expected to be updated regularly and made available to researchers, policymakers, and the public.
