The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) of Morocco has issued an orange-level weather alert for several regions of the country, valid from Tuesday, March 19, to Wednesday, March 20, 2026. The alert warns of locally strong thunderstorms, hail, snowfall, and strong wind gusts.
According to the DGM bulletin, thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall (30-40 mm) and a risk of hail are expected on Tuesday from 12:00 to 21:00 in the provinces of Assa-Zag and Es-Semara. The same weather phenomenon is forecast for the provinces of Guelmim, Tan-Tan, Tata, and Taroudant.
For Wednesday, the DGM predicts rainfall and snow showers from the morning over the Middle Atlas, the High Atlas, and the eastern highlands. Strong gusts of wind are also anticipated, ranging from 70 to 90 km/h, in the southern provinces, the east, and the southeastern slopes of the Atlas Mountains.
