Morocco and the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed) signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Rabat, to strengthen cooperation in promoting alternative dispute resolution methods. The agreement was signed by Morocco's Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, and IOMed Secretary-General Ismail Selim.
The memorandum aims to enhance the use of mediation and conciliation as effective tools for resolving commercial and civil disputes, reducing the burden on traditional courts. Both parties committed to exchanging expertise, organizing training programs, and developing best practices in the field of mediation.
Minister Ouahbi highlighted that this partnership aligns with Morocco's ongoing judicial reforms and its efforts to improve the business climate by offering efficient dispute resolution mechanisms. IOMed Secretary-General Selim praised Morocco's leadership in promoting mediation in the region.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Justice in Rabat, with officials from both sides in attendance. This agreement is part of a broader strategy by IOMed to expand its network of cooperation with member states and international organizations.
