The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced plans to invest over €700 million in Morocco during 2026, according to a statement from the EIB's regional office. The funding will target key sectors including renewable energy, water management, and transportation infrastructure.
This investment aligns with Morocco's National Energy Strategy, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 52% of installed capacity by 2030. The EIB has been a long-term partner in Morocco, with total financing exceeding €8 billion since 1979.
Specific projects under consideration include support for solar and wind energy farms, as well as upgrades to the country's rail network. The EIB's commitment underscores the strong economic ties between Morocco and the European Union.
