Morocco's Council of Government, meeting on May 21, 2026, approved the appointment of several senior officials to key positions in the ministries of Economy and Finance, Customs, and National Education, according to official sources.
Among the appointments, Abdellatif Jouahri was reappointed as Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib, the central bank, for a new term. The Council also named Mohamed Benchaâboun as Director General of the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, and Saaïd Amzazi as Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research.
These appointments are part of a broader administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening the management of public finances, customs operations, and educational reforms. The decisions were taken following proposals from the respective ministers and the Head of Government.
The Council also discussed other administrative matters, including the adoption of several draft decrees related to the implementation of the 2026 Finance Law and the reform of the education system.
