Moov Mauritanie, the leading telecommunications operator in Mauritania formerly known as Mauritel, reported 2.767 million subscribers at the end of the first half of 2026, according to a company statement released on July 24, 2026. This represents a 5.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The operator, a subsidiary of the Moroccan group Maroc Telecom, attributed the growth to network expansion and improved service quality. Moov Mauritanie has invested heavily in 4G and fiber-optic infrastructure, covering over 80% of the population.
Revenue for the first six months of 2026 reached 12.5 billion Mauritanian ouguiyas (approximately $310 million), up 7.2% year-on-year. EBITDA margin stood at 48%, reflecting operational efficiency.
The company also highlighted its contribution to digital inclusion, with mobile money services now used by 1.2 million active customers. Moov Mauritanie plans to launch 5G trials in Nouakchott by the end of 2026.
