Cherfaoui acknowledges that the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East a month prior caused initial volatility in oil markets. However, he explains that this spike has not translated into a lasting shock for maritime shipping costs. The analyst points to an oversupply of container shipping capacity worldwide as a key dampening factor on prices.
