India's High Commissioner to South Africa, Prabhat Kumar, stated that Indian companies are actively exploring opportunities to supply railway equipment to South Africa. He made the remarks while addressing industry leaders and members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) India Business Forum in Johannesburg.
Kumar highlighted the potential for collaboration, noting that Indian firms possess significant expertise in the railway sector. He specifically mentioned that Texmaco Rail and Engineering Limited is planning to bring its products to the South African market, according to a report by the Press Trust of India.
The envoy's comments underscore India's strategic push to expand its economic footprint in Africa through infrastructure partnerships. South Africa's rail network, operated by state-owned Transnet, requires modernization, presenting a potential market for international suppliers.
