A heat wave is settling over several regions of Morocco, with temperatures expected to rise significantly in the coming days, particularly in the interior and southern parts of the country, according to the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM).
The DGM forecasts that maximum temperatures will range between 38°C and 44°C in provinces such as Errachidia, Ouarzazate, Zagora, and Tata. In the northern and coastal areas, temperatures will remain more moderate, between 28°C and 34°C.
The heat wave is attributed to a mass of hot, dry air from the Sahara, which is pushing northward. The DGM advises residents to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and check on vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and children.
This weather pattern is expected to persist until at least May 25, with a slight drop in temperatures possible over the weekend in some areas. No significant rainfall is forecast for the affected regions.
