The company stated the measure, effective from early April 2026, is a direct response to significant increases in fuel prices, which have raised operational costs for its driver-partners.
Similarly, Singapore-based ride-hailing service Tada has confirmed it will implement a temporary fuel surcharge for its platform. The company cited the same economic pressures, aiming to help its drivers manage the increased expense of refueling their vehicles.
The surcharges are applied per trip and vary by country and service type. Both companies have emphasized that the increase is temporary and will be reviewed based on future fuel price movements. They stated the primary goal is to maintain driver earnings and service reliability without disproportionately burdening customers.
This move follows a pattern in the transportation industry across Southeast Asia, where companies periodically adjust fares or add surcharges in response to volatile global oil markets. Authorities in the affected countries have been notified of the pricing changes.
