Fiosrú, the Office of the Police Ombudsman, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a 34-year-old man in Mullingar, County Westmeath. The incident occurred on Saturday, 29 March 2026.
The independent policing oversight body has issued a public appeal for witnesses. It is seeking information from anyone who was on Main Street, Mullingar, between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm on the night of the incident.
Fiosrú stated that its investigation is ongoing and that it is in contact with the man's family. The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is the statutory body responsible for Fiosrú.
