The Volta Regional representative on Ghana's Council of State, Gabriel T.K.A Kwamigah-Atokple, has formally demanded a public apology from the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah. The demand follows allegations of defamation made by the EOCO boss against Kwamigah-Atokple.
In a detailed statement, Kwamigah-Atokple accused Addo-Danquah of making false and damaging statements about him in the media. He has given her a seven-day ultimatum to retract the statements and issue an unqualified apology, failing which he will initiate legal action for defamation.
Simultaneously, Kwamigah-Atokple has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama, calling for the immediate dismissal of the EOCO boss from her position. The petition cites the alleged defamatory comments and calls into question her suitability to lead the anti-corruption agency.
As of March 31, 2026, there has been no public response from COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah or the Presidency regarding the demands. The situation highlights a significant rift between a senior state advisor and the head of a key law enforcement institution.
