Celtic are considering a move for Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu as they look to strengthen their options in goal, according to reports. The Scottish champions are in the market for a new keeper this summer, with current number one Joe Hart having retired at the end of last season.
Bazunu, 24, has been with Southampton since 2022 but spent last season on loan at Belgian club Standard Liège. The Republic of Ireland international has made 20 appearances for his country and is seen as a promising young goalkeeper with Premier League experience.
Celtic have been linked with several keepers, including Manchester City's Zack Steffen and Liverpool's Caoimhin Kelleher, but Bazunu is now said to be a serious option. Southampton are reportedly open to letting him leave permanently or on loan as they look to trim their squad.
Bazunu's potential arrival at Celtic Park would provide competition for current backup Scott Bain and new signing Kasper Schmeichel, who joined on a free transfer this summer. However, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to add a long-term successor to Hart, and Bazunu fits the profile.
No formal bid has been made yet, and talks are at an early stage. Celtic fans will be hoping for a swift resolution as the transfer window enters its final weeks.
