LS Electric, a South Korean electrical equipment manufacturer, announced on March 18, 2026, that it will invest $168 million to expand its switchgear production plant in the United States. The investment targets the company's existing facility in Jefferson, Georgia.

The expansion aims to significantly increase production capacity for medium-voltage switchgear, a critical component for power distribution and protection. This move is driven by rising demand from the data center sector, industrial complexes, and renewable energy projects across North America.

The company stated that the expanded facility will incorporate advanced automation and smart manufacturing technologies. LS Electric expects the project to create approximately 200 new jobs in the region once the expansion is completed, which is scheduled for 2027.

This strategic investment is part of LS Electric's broader effort to strengthen its supply chain and manufacturing footprint in the U.S. market, aligning with increased federal incentives for domestic infrastructure and clean energy manufacturing.
