A drone crashed on Saturday, March 21, in the vicinity of the Moroccan embassy in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Iraqi security sources, cited by local media, stated the unmanned aerial vehicle was targeting the headquarters of the Iraqi intelligence services.

The incident occurred in the heavily fortified Green Zone, which houses numerous government buildings and foreign diplomatic missions. Initial reports indicate there were no casualties from the crash, though the drone caused material damage in the area.

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Such drone and rocket attacks in the Green Zone have been recurrent, often targeting Iraqi government or security installations, as well as the U.S. embassy compound.

Iraqi security forces have launched an investigation into the incident. The Moroccan embassy has not issued an official statement regarding the crash at this time.
