On March 18, 2026, the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, announced a federal investment of $13.8 million to support the growth of Indigenous tourism in Canada. The funding is allocated to the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) through the Tourism Growth Program.

The investment aims to help Indigenous tourism businesses and entrepreneurs create, improve, and market new tourism experiences. ITAC will distribute the funds to support projects that enhance visitor experiences and contribute to economic development in Indigenous communities across the country.

Minister Boissonnault stated that the investment recognizes the vital role Indigenous tourism plays in sharing cultures and stories, while also creating jobs and supporting sustainable economic growth. The announcement was made at the International Indigenous Tourism Conference in Ottawa.

This funding builds on previous federal support for the sector, which has been identified as a key driver for Canada's tourism recovery and long-term growth strategy.
