Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and team management to provide clarity to senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli regarding their future in the national team, even after a poor series. Speaking to reporters on July 21, 2026, Yuvraj emphasized the importance of honest communication as India builds towards the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
“Rohit and Virat need clarity that they’ll stay even after a bad series,” Yuvraj said, according to multiple Indian media outlets. He stressed that the duo, both in their late 30s, have been pillars of Indian cricket and deserve transparent discussions about their roles, especially with younger players emerging.
Yuvraj’s comments come amid speculation about the future of the senior players following India’s inconsistent performances in recent bilateral series. The 2027 World Cup, scheduled to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, is a key target for the team.
The former all-rounder, who played a pivotal role in India’s 2011 World Cup win, added that the team management should not base decisions solely on short-term results. “You need to have a plan for the next two years and stick with it,” he said.
