Young, who won the 2025 PGA Championship, is seeking his second victory of the year. His closest challenger is Xander Schauffele, who shot 67 to move to 12-under par. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is tied for third at 11-under after a 68.
Meanwhile, Adam Scott made history by starting his 100th consecutive major championship. The 45-year-old Australian, who won the 2013 Masters, has not missed a major since the 2001 Open Championship. Scott shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 40th at 1-under.
The final round is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at TPC Sawgrass. Young will be paired with Schauffele in the final group.
