MELAKA: A 25-year-old factory worker was fined RM2,800 by the Magistrate's Court in Ayer Keroh here for possessing and disseminating intimate videos involving her former husband and another woman.

Magistrate Nur Afiqah Radhiah Zainurin meted out the fine after the accused pleaded guilty to two charges under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a person, and Section 292(a) of the same code for possession of obscene material. The court ordered a three-month jail term if she fails to pay the fine.

The woman was arrested in March 2026 after the ex-husband lodged a police report. Investigations revealed she had shared the videos via WhatsApp with the ex-husband's family and friends, causing him public embarrassment. The videos were recorded without the knowledge of the ex-husband and the other woman.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Izzati Mohd Khair prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. The court considered the public interest in deterring such acts of revenge porn.
