West Bengal Police have arrested Sarina Bibi, wife of jailed former Trinamool Congress leader Jahangir Khan, for allegedly orchestrating an attack on Falta police station and attempting to secure her husband's release from custody, according to police officials on June 20, 2026.
The arrest follows an incident where a mob attacked the Falta police station in South 24 Parganas district, demanding Khan's release. Khan was arrested earlier in connection with a separate case. Police said Sarina Bibi planned the assault and incited the crowd.
Jahangir Khan, a former TMC leader, has been in custody since his arrest. The attack on the police station resulted in injuries to several officers and damage to property. Additional security forces have been deployed in the area to maintain order.
Authorities are investigating the involvement of other individuals in the attack. Sarina Bibi is expected to be produced before a local court for further legal proceedings.
