The Chicago White Sox announced on Tuesday that they have activated catcher Kyle Teel from the 10-day injured list. Teel had been sidelined since June 10 with a left groin strain.
To make room on the active roster, the White Sox optioned catcher Edgar Quero to Triple-A Charlotte. Quero, 22, had been with the major league club since June 18 and appeared in two games, going 0-for-4 with a walk.
Teel, 23, was acquired by the White Sox in the December 2024 trade that sent pitcher Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox. In 20 games this season with Chicago, Teel is batting .235 with two home runs and eight RBIs.
The move gives the White Sox a more experienced catching option as they continue their rebuild. Teel is expected to be in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers.
