The town of Westerly, Rhode Island, has officially launched a new public bike share program. The system, which became operational in early April 2026, features a fleet of 50 electric-assist bicycles.
The bikes are provided by the micromobility company Veo and are available at designated docking stations throughout the town. Key locations include the Westerly Train Station, Wilcox Park, and Misquamicut State Beach, aiming to connect transit hubs with recreational and commercial areas.
Users can locate and unlock the bikes using the Veo mobile app. Rides cost $1 to unlock and $0.30 per minute to ride. The program is intended to provide residents and visitors with a sustainable transportation alternative for short trips.
The launch follows a pilot program conducted in 2025. Town officials have stated the initiative supports goals for reduced traffic congestion and improved community health and accessibility.
