Visa announced on Monday that it will acquire BioCatch, a fraud-detection company, for $2.4 billion in cash. The deal underscores Visa's push into cybersecurity as banks face a surge in artificial intelligence-powered scams and account takeovers.
BioCatch, based in Tel Aviv, specializes in behavioral biometrics—analyzing how users interact with devices to detect fraud. The company has been profitable since 2023 and serves major banks worldwide.
The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Visa said the deal will enhance its ability to protect clients from increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes.
This move follows Visa's broader strategy to expand its value-added services, which include risk and identity solutions. Financial terms were confirmed by both companies.
