Vietnam, Morocco Strengthen Parliamentary Ties

Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue visited Morocco, agreeing to boost parliamentary cooperation and economic ties.

Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue concluded an official visit to Morocco on March 25, 2026, following an invitation from Moroccan House of Representatives Speaker Rachid Talbi Alami. The visit, part of a broader tour that included Algeria and Iran, aimed to strengthen bilateral and parliamentary relations.

During meetings in Rabat, Chairman Hue and Speaker Alami discussed enhancing cooperation between the two legislative bodies. They agreed to increase the exchange of delegations and experiences, and to improve the legal framework to facilitate investment and economic collaboration between Vietnamese and Moroccan businesses.

The leaders reviewed the 65-year diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Morocco, noting room for growth in trade, which currently stands at approximately $500 million annually. They emphasized potential in sectors like agriculture, renewable energy, and tourism. Chairman Hue also met with several Moroccan officials, including the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.

The visit concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two parliaments and a joint press release. Chairman Hue invited Speaker Alami to visit Vietnam, an invitation which was accepted with a date to be arranged through diplomatic channels.
