US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo in Manila on June 6, 2026, to discuss bilateral defense and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, Rubio emphasized the US commitment to the Mutual Defense Treaty and the importance of a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific. The discussions also covered enhancing maritime cooperation and addressing challenges in the SCS, where the Philippines has ongoing disputes with China.
