Dr. Annette Kezaabu, the Chairperson of Uganda's Anti-Pornography Committee, has issued a stern warning to entertainment venues allegedly hosting or promoting pornographic acts. She stated that such establishments risk immediate closure and that proprietors and performers face arrest if found culpable.
Dr. Kezaabu made the remarks during a press briefing at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on April 14, 2026. She emphasized that the committee, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, would intensify enforcement of the country's Anti-Pornography Act of 2014.
The warning follows recent public complaints and monitoring reports alleging that some bars, clubs, and music venues are staging sexually explicit performances. The 2014 law defines pornography broadly and prohibits its production, trafficking, publication, and exhibition.
Authorities have not specified which venues are under scrutiny or announced any imminent raids. The committee has urged the public to report violations through official channels.
