Search operations are ongoing for two French nationals who went missing at sea off the coast of Morocco, according to the Moroccan National Center for Maritime Rescue and Coordination. The pair were last seen on May 25, 2026, aboard a catamaran that was later found empty near the port of Safi.
The catamaran, identified as a Lagoon 380, was discovered adrift with no one on board. A missing dinghy, which was part of the vessel's equipment, has raised concerns that the two individuals may have attempted to reach shore or were separated from the main boat.
Moroccan authorities, including naval units and aerial surveillance, have been deployed to search the area. The French Embassy in Morocco is in contact with local officials and the families of the missing persons.
No signs of the missing individuals have been reported as of May 26, 2026. The cause of their disappearance remains under investigation, with no foul play suspected at this stage.
